  • PUBLIC UTILITIES JOB DESCRIPTION

    STREET DEPARTMENT
    Maintain streets and alleys
    • Plow and remove snow
    • Grade and resurface dirt streets and alleys
    • Patch blacktop streets
    • Paint parking spaces and curbs
    • Install and repair street and road signs
    • Post road restriction signs
    • Install Christmas decorations
    Operate assorted equipment and perform light maintenance on same
    WATER DEPARTMENT
    • Class D Water Operator's license or ability to obtain.
    • Install, repair and read water meters
    • Maintain, flush and pump fire hydrants
    • Add chemicals to City water
    Fluoride, Chlorine and Phosphates
    • Take samples and complete all related forms on a timely basis
    • Gopher State One Call locates
    • Operate assorted equipment and perform light maintenance on same
    SEWER DEPARTMENT
    • Class D Wastewater license or ability to obtain.
    • Maintenance on sewer mains
    • Flush dead ends and problem areas
    • Auger plugs clean manholes.
    • Light maintenance on lift stations and pumps
    • Daily and weekly pump readings
    • Pond samples, discharges and complete related forms on a daily basis

    • Gopher state One Call locates
    • Operate assorted equipment and perform light maintenance on same
    PARK DEPARTMENT
    Maintain City ballfields, parks, playgrounds, skating rink and
    swimming beach
    • Operated assorted equipment and perform light maintenance on same

    GENERAL
    While performing all jobs, the City employee shall adhere to all safety rules, regulations,
    policies, and practices, including wearing appropriate safety equipment as necessary to
    protect the employee, the operation and the general public.
    The employee shall be available for scheduled and emergency overtime duties.
    The employee shall have the ability to read both hard copy and online city maps and
    prints.
    The employee shall have the ability use Microsoft Word and Excel.
    This is a general listing not limited. Must perform other duties as assigned.
    Employee without a class D water and /or sewer licenses will obtain with in 2 years of
    employment.
    Employee without a class B commercial license shall have 6 months to acquire one.
