Looking for a fun day for the whole family to enjoy? Tubing and sledding is a great activity! Please come out to the City of Deer River's Blueberry Hills sliding area. Whether you want to take a slide down the big hills or just take in the warmth of a fire, you are sure to have a great time with family and friends.

Sliding Hill Hours & Rules


  • The gate to the sliding hill area is always left open. There are no set hours.

  • Restrooms and garbage cans are provided on site. Please keep the area tidy and bag garbage to prevent it from blowing out of cans.

  • Snowmobiles are not allowed on the sliding hill. If you see this activity, please ask them to stop

  • Firewood is not provided.

  • Slide at your own risk.

  • Do not create any hazardous obstacles that may pose risk to other sledders.

  • Please report any graffiti or damage to the City of Deer River immediately at 218-246-8195.

Sliding Hill Location


  • From Deer River/Talmoon (Hwy 6) - Turn east off of State Highway 6 onto County Road 142 (Chase Lake Rd). Drive approximately 2 miles and turn south onto County Road 144 (Blueberry Hills Road). Drive South approximately one-half mile and entrance gate and sign will be located on the west side of the road.

  • From Grand Rapids (Hwy 2) - Turn north off of State Highway 2 onto County Road 161. Drive approximately 1 mile and turn east onto County Road 128. Drive approximately .5 miles and turn north onto County Road 144. Drive approximately 1.7 miles and the Deer River Sliding Hill Gate and Sign will be located on the west side of the road.
