Robin Baker Blueberry Hills Trail is located in Deer River City Forest. This trail was named after Robin Baker by the City in 2014 in recognition of his exceptional dedication as a volunteer in enhancing and maintaining the trail. Robin groomed the trail for cross-country skiing throughout the winter.
The trail warming shack and storage buildings were planned by Robin, were worked on by him along with volunteers that he organized and assistance from City personnel. In the spring through the fall months he mowed and cleared the trail for access by hikers, hunters, and bikers. After the severe windstorm of 2012 caused large areas of downed trees, Robin's energy and intimate knowledge of the trail were invaluable as he worked with the City in the extensive log clearing required. He also spent countless hours coaching and teaching Nordic skiing.
He was an active member of the Northern Lights Nordic Ski Club which strongly supported his work and continues to maintain and groom the trail. Robin Baker volunteered in multiple other capacities at the City, County, and State levels. He is greatly missed by his family and many, many friends. This fine trail system is a fitting legacy.
